It's raining in the bedroom?

Last week, I was sitting in our bedroom nursing Noah while Eric took a shower. I heard what sounded like rain in the bedroom. A little drip drip drip. That's odd, I thought. Why would it be raining in the bedroom. Maybe my sense of hearing has been heightened since we had Noah and I was hearing the water from Eric's shower. Then I looked at the wall in the corner of the room. Water was running down from the ceiling and dripping onto a lamp. Drip drip drip. Great, I thought. Just what we need... another house problem. I called to Eric. "You're not going to be happy. There's something wrong with our house. It's raining in the bedroom."

Eric took a look outside. An ice dam had built up in the corner of the house even though Eric has been raking the snow off of the roof after each snowfall this winter. He got out the ladder and spent about 45 minutes chipping away the ice. Fortunately this did the trick. The water stopped running down the wall and dripping on the lamp. It's just one more thing for us to worry about this spring. We'll have to have someone out to check the roof and we'll have to paint the ceiling in the bedroom. We look forward to the day when we have a newer house and we don't have to worry about things breaking all the time.
