Thanksgiving was a wonderful day. We spent much of the day at my Mom's house with my Grandparents (soon to be Great Grandparents if this little guy ever decides to make an appearance). It was a small gathering, but we enjoyed our time together and ate way too much fantastic food. I am thankful for the time we spent together.
The day after Thanksgiving, we broke out the Christmas tree and set it up in the living room right in front of our big picture window. The tree is beautiful and I was so happy to see it standing there, particularly because I have been thinking about how much I wanted to put up the tree since Halloween. It's been a long wait this year because Thanksgiving was so late in the month of November this year. Last night, I enjoyed laying on the couch and watching the twinkling lights create colored shadows across the ceiling. It's one of my favorite hobbies during the Christmas season.
Yesterday, Eric and I finished all the raking and yard work. We took about 18 bags to the compost site in three trips. It was a beautiful day. The temperature was in the 40's. I was amazed that I could work outside on the yard in a fleece jacket that doesn't fully cover my belly and a hat and feel warm enough that I didn't want to run inside every 5 minutes. We finished all the yard work and were happy to drive up to the house and see our yard looking better than usual.
So... it is fitting that today we woke up to snow. It looks like we got about an inch or so. There's a white blanket covering the recently raked lawn and hanging from the tree branches. This is the first snow we have received that has completely covered our grass. It's very pretty. As typical Minnesotans, I am certain we will enjoy it until we need to run an errand and we realize that it's time to shovel.
On the baby front. Still no sign he's interested in taking a look at this white stuff. He's much too warm and happy where he is...
